Felicity Ayles (from Weymouth College)

Employer: Kingston Maurward College, Dorchester

Qualification: Advanced Apprenticeship in Business and Administration

Case Study

Felicity completed her Advanced Apprenticeship in Business and Administration through Dorset County Council. After five years within the council gathering experience in different departments she decided it was time to progress further. A job opportunity became available at Kingston Maurward College to coordinate and assess apprentices in Business and Administration, ICT, Team Leading and Management. Felicity's own apprenticeship qualifications helped her progress to this new role and she can now pass on this experience to new apprentices within the College.

Felicity says, "I studied for 4 AS Levels at Weymouth College and while I enjoyed it, I didn't want to stay in the classroom! After completing my apprenticeship, I stayed for 4 years within the council and then decided it was time to try and develop my career. Now I am coordinating Business and Administration, ICT and Team Leading and Management Apprenticeships at Kingston Maurward College!"

Kingston Maurward College has more than 60 years experience in land-based and agricultural subjects. The College is situated on the outskirts of Dorchester and offers a wide range of courses and apprenticeships.

As an Apprentice in the Highways Office within Dorset County Council, my role included interacting with the public, dealing with administration and assisting the team with road closures. I moved to Legal Services to complete my apprenticeship, where I ordered goods and services, performed Land Registry searches and secretarial duties.
