Sam Dickerson, aged 18 is currently on the Advanced Apprenticeship ICT Professionals programme with Yeovil College whilst employed at Lexicon Lifeline, Corfe Mullen, Dorset. Sam studied 'A' Levels whilst at Corfe Hills school but had no intention of going on to university like so many of his friends. He wanted to go straight into employment and start earning a wage.
Sam's qualification will provide him with the necessary skills to carry out general IT duties, including fault diagnosis and repair, customer relationship, programming, systems analysis and database management.
Lexicon Lifeline is an Independent Educational ICT Consultancy who offer advice, support, training and manage computer solutions to primary and middle schools.
As part of his job role, Sam has recently been installing software, removing computer viruses, resetting passwords and solving problems with a laptop.
Sam said, "I love the course. Everything about it is good and I learn lots of new things everyday."
Jan Yeats, Office Manager said; "We wanted to bring someone younger and inspirational into the company and thought an apprenticeship was the best route for offering someone work and training at the same time. "
